The binding that is described on the binding page was followed by threshing the oat shocks on the first Saturday of August. Most of the afternoon was spent by club members and friends in picking up the shocks from the field and having the grain and straw separated by a separator or threshing machine. These are some of the pictures that were taken during this activity. All of the photos were taken on August 3 except for the few showing the completed stack with the threshing machine. Those were taken early the next morning. The afternoon was complete with the threshing activity and an afternoon lunch served by some of the wives. The lunch was served from the back of one of the pickups, instead of from a wagon as would have been done during the first half of the century when this activity was the norm for the area.
